SOUND PLACES BASEL

Soundscape composition | 4-channel installation | 7'34 | 2020

This work focuses on the more disturbing auditory events of everyday city life.
She concentrates on the soundscape and on the sonorous interaction of different places in Basel.
The sound situation environment is examined for characteristic sound events and their effects on the room. The collected material is analyzed and arranged into a narrative composition. The piece offers the opportunity to rediscover familiar everyday noises, as well as to hear those that are usually lost in the hustle and bustle of the city and remain unnoticed.

In the four-channel installation, visitors experience an urban feeling of space with the characteristic sound characteristics of the Rhine city at the border triangle. The installation was shown as part of the Art Week for Climate Protection at GEDOK, the artists' forum in Karlsruhe from February 26th to March 1st, 2020.
